Hamburger Hafengeburtstag - May 2008
The heart of the HAFENGEBURTSTAG HAMBURG is the programme of attractions along the River Elbe, from the Museum Harbour of Oevelgönne to the landing stages as far as Baumwall. The highlights include the grand arrival and departure parades of the tall ships, historic ships, sailing and motor yachts and other vessels, the Dragon class regattas, the port illuminations on the Friday evening, the big fireworks display on the Saturday evening, and the unique Tug Ballet on the Saturday afternoon.
Alstervergnügen - August 2008
The most important people celebration limited to the city center is the "Alstervergnügen", each year is organized approximately on four days at the end of of August around the Inner Alster Lake. The Alstervergnügen was created once for the stimulation of the city center. Beside catering trade and sales conditions several stages are developed here, on which usually local artist arise. Numerous loudspeaker bridges provide for music, the occasional (z. B. during the fireworks) to be central hooked up. On the Binnenalster on Fridays and Saturday fireworks are ignited.
Vattenfall Cyclassics - August 2008
Vattenfall Cyclassics (until including 2005: HEW Cyclassics) are a one day bicycle-race in Germany and each year it takes place in July or August. It is delivered since 1996, from 1998 to 2004 belonged it to Wheel Worldcup. Since its abolishment is it (together with that Germany route) one both German running in the again introduced UCI pro route, a series of the most important Radrennen of the yearly, and besides part of the new German championship (TUI Cup). Sponsor and name givers are those Vattenfall Europe Hamburg. The distance process is different from year to year. Some salient points like the start on the Steinstraße and the goal on that Mönckebergstrasse or the hill "Waseberg" are always contained. The distance is usually long around 250 km.
