Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten

HAMBURG INFORMATION

The stunning City of Hamburg, home to a million people, has something for everyone. With traditions reaching back for centuries, it has always played a special political and cultural role throughout its 1200 years.

Town Hall
The impressive neo-Renaissance style of this sandstone structure was built from 1886-1897.  It is the seat of the senate and the municipality of Hamburg.

Harbor of Hamburg & Canal Tours
Explore the Alster on a boat ride around the city through various canals. Tours and cruises depart daily throughout the day from Jungfernstieg pier.

Speicherstadt
Built at the turn of the century in red brick, typical of northern Germany, with gabled roofs and small towers. It is the world's oldest warehouse complex. Currently nocturnal boat tours are running through the Speicherstadt, which is lit during the night.

St. Michaelis Church
St. Michaelis Church is one of the most impressive church buildings in Europe. Erected by Protestants in 1762, it was seriously damaged by fire in 1906 and was rebuilt to the original plans. The hands of the clock are the largest in Europe and there is a fine view of the city from the tower.

Altona Fish Market
An amazing display of fresh fish, plants, and all kinds of foods, all at bargain prices at the Hamburg Fish Market. Is renown more for the funny wisecracks of the sellers, such as Banana Harry and Eel Dieter, than for their fish.

Blankenese
Below the labyrinth of steps, right on the banks of the Elbe river, Blankenese displays all the flair of a seaside resort, with cafés and outdoor terraces, a few pleasant pubs, and thatched houses.

Reeperbahn "Kiez"
Adjacent to the Fish Market Area, the Reeperbahn is Hamburg's once notoriuos red-light district, but now the bawdy bars and prostitutes have largely been replaced with chic discos, funky bars, fringe theaters, and ethnic restaurants for hip hop night lifers.

Shopping in Hamburg
Hamburg is a shopper's paradise, with numerous specialty shops, boutiques, department stores and malls. In warmer months, the lively markets and merchant stalls add to the temptation. Some of the city’s finest shops are just steps away from the front doors of the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten.
