The Victoria Festival of Wine celebrates the best wines from around the world every March.

Cordova Bay's scenic vistas of Haro Strait, the San Juan Islands, and Mount Baker will stop golfers in their tracks.

Arbutus Ridge Golf & Country Club
Arbutus Ridge Golf & Country Club, known locally as The Ridge, is the perfect introduction to golf on Vancouver Island. Experience an unforgettable golf adventure in this rustic country setting, with stunning views of the tranquil Satellite Channel and Mount Baker's mighty snow-capped peak. Kayaking
Discover the beauty of Canada's West coast from a sea kayak. Explore intricate shorelines while gliding past sandy beaches. Join a sea-kayaking course that ranges from a three-hour evening clinic to full-weekend adventures.

Indulge yourself in the joys of sea kayaking on a guided tour. Scheduled tours are available from June through September; however, clinics and group tour bookings are available year-round.

Tennis
Courts are within a short walking distance from the hotel at Beacon Hill Park and are on a first come, first serve basis.

Squash and Racquetball
Courts are located at the YM / YWCA, a five-minute walk from the hotel.

Hiking
Explore nature on the West coast. Half- and full-day guided hikes are available in the most spectacular natural settings on southern Vancouver Island. These high-quality interpretive nature hikes will heighten your environmental awareness and nature appreciation. The Victoria area offers beautiful, rugged, coastal hikes or mountainous, panoramic climbs. There is hiking for every level, from novice to seasoned experts.

Cycling
The Fairmont Empress now offers bike rentals, available from the Concierge Desk from Coastal Watersports. The rate is CAD 8.00 per hour or the five-hour rate of CAD 30.00.

Please note:
After the five-hour rate an hourly rate of CAD 6.00 will be charged for each additional hour of use.

Mountain Biking
Peddle your way through the City of Victoria. The seaside vistas and rolling hills make biking a favorite activity in the area. The Galloping Goose Trail, an old railway track, provides automobile-free cycling.
